THE NEW CLASSICS In the contemporary interior we still appreciate the influence of classic design. You will notice it in wall paper designs, vases, curtain fabrics and other decorating items which beautify your home. Using new materials, the beauty of classical design can be retained in a manner which suits modern living. (Here is an example illustrating a combination of embroidery with a specially printed background fabric). NEFERTITI: The Explanation, Nefertiti, which translates as ' The Beauty ' was the wife of the Egyption pharaoh Akhenaten, a devoted and fanatical follower of the philosophy of the sun. The Nefertiti bust, which was discovered in 1911, is now on display in a Berlin museum. The heavy and ornate head dress with the Uraeus-snake and the wide collar are typical adornments and make a fine contrast to her exquisite features. The proportions, balance and colorful paints represent an excellent example of the beauty and perfection of ancient Egyptian art. The artist Joadoor, born in 1949, depicted the bust against a complementary backdrop and lanarte have translated this work of art into a beautiful cross stitch picture. The combination of embroidery and screen printed fabric produces a memorable and fascinating embroidery which will grace your home.
